Vienna (Va.) Senators 9, Wichita Sluggers 3 –
The Senators scored six runs in the top of the ninth to break open a 3-3 game. Sluggers starting pitcher Matt Robertson had been resilient for eight innings, but gave up the go-ahead home run to Kevin Watkins to start the ninth.
"We rode him a little too long," Sluggers coach Mark Standiford said.
Tyler Townsend added a two-run shot later in the inning.
Kyle Hald got the win for the Senators after coming in to relieve Ryan Woolley. Hald went five innings. "He got in a grove and we didn't make anything happen," Standiford said.
